One of the most annoying times of the year is here. Rhyme. Christmas! I say it is annoying because my family gets annoyed when they ask what I want and I reply "I don't know". Now I have been spoiled from an early age and they constantly remind me of that, telling me how I have everything already. I don't want to make it seem like I am some perfect person who is writing this to be preachy because that is not what I want this to be. These are just things I have felt over the past few years, that pop back up into my mind during this holiday season. I find it annoying that this holiday is now based around idea of giving of gifts; even in my own family people talk about someone who might not buy a gift for all or even re-give the same gift as last year, who cares? The fact that we have turned Jesus Christ's day of birth, into a chance to get as many things as our parents money allows us to get is despicable. I know this is not news to anybody that x-mas has turned into a marketing ploy; but the fact that people, many of whom don't even believe in Christs presence on earth, ask for xbox's, clothes, cars, computers, forms of money like gift cards, and sometimes actual money is ridiculous. The most positive thing I try and take from this holiday is that I get to see my family, which I am thankful are all healthy for the time being. The idea that we expect to get something from others for doing pretty much nothing is what I have deduced from this festive time of the year. But this clamoring for material objects goes beyond Christmas. I have always tried to go by the "treat others as you would like to be treated" mantra and I am proud of myself for that, but if people don't return the favor whats the point? This speaks more on peoples generosity and compassion than that of material objects. I understand my friends are poor college kids like me, so I almost regret being annoyed at having to pay for my own dinner on my birthday, but where does that fall on the line between generosity and materialism? I am still not sure. I have learned some harsh lessons over that last 6 years and it sucks to think how much money I would have if I hadn't spent it on others, but I like to think that my generosity won't be forgotten as I think it might already be with some. I know I sound like a jerk, but I honestly don't care. People reading this obviously know me and if they can't accept the fact that I am someone who would write this then thats tough. I think a lot of people I know have lost their way and seem to think only of themselves; to those I just hope you don't forget the people who have supported you and have believed in you. I know I take my family for granted many times, but I am working on taking every moment I can to thank them and tell them I love them. This may sound clustered but I took two finals today so I am tired. I just thought I would share my thoughts and thanks if you have read this far. If anybody is going to get me anything for Christmas get me an energy efficient light bulb, even though I am not sure if I believe in Jesus, I would like to think that he would want us saving his creation, and getting something that helps not only me but everyone is satisfying.

So here are the Coachella set times, it sucks cause there are a few bands playing at the same time I want to see. Gogel Bordello and Bjork I both wanted to see. The Good the Bad and the Queen and the Rapture are playing at the same time. Ghostface Killah and The Arcade Fire which Stu told me to see, and sucks to Ratatat I need to get a good spot for Rage. So I just found out that one of the victims in the VT shooting was a holocaust survivor. I don't know why but that prompted me to write something. My condolences go out to the victims family and friends. The whole campus for that matter I am sure will never be the same. I remember when Sean Branch passed away that I could not believe that someone I graduated with had died. I would be driving and sometimes it would just occur to me that I will never see Sean Branch again. Now 33 families will have to deal with something that I don't even think I can comprehend. I am so thankful for my family and my friends. I try to tell my family members that I love them as much as possible, every time I leave one of them usually. I just wanted to say I love you to all of my friends as well. You all mean so much to me and I know a Livejournal post won't be able to convey how appreciative I am for all of you. I know not many people will read this...guess that is what myspace is for, but if you know someone who can't read this tell them that I love them as well and that you do too, even if you don't! Spread the love I guess is what that means because you never know what could happen in life. I am sad knowing that we are all growing apart and moving, and its highly unlikely what everyone will be able to reunite again even if its just for a quick get together, but I am going to cherish the rest of the time I have with all my friends. All of those VT victims will be in my thoughts as i go to sleep tonight as will my wonderful friends and family. I love you all and thank you.

And wouldn't it be an inspirational story if a guy with chlamydia won this event!

well i went to Coachella this weekend with robert zach viet and selena...it was awesome and worth ever dollar! zach took pics so i dont really have any to post. ill give a mini rundown and review of what i saw. hippies suck even more now especially Strawberry a real hippies name ahhhhhh. oh well

Saturday

Common- pretty cool guy, i didnt know alot of the songs but it was still good. he did a little break dancing which was pretty cool. i thought we missed him due to traffic but he went on about half an hour later. but good perfromance throwing in some old school stuff too

Kanye West- he had all his violin players with him and they played on every song which surprised me, but he kept saying that he had to alter his setlist i guess some losers earlier in the day must have put everything behind, so he pretty much only played his singles which were still all really good. Diamonds from Sierra Leone and Jesus walks being my favorites. he even did an 80's dance to Take on me which was awesome, pretty awesome dancer. even thought it was short it was really fun.

Damien "Jr. Kong" Marley- this is uhhhh bob marleys last son, his cd is good but live alot of it sounded the same and it seemed to go on for a long time, and there was so much weed smoke everywhere it gave me a headache and viets allergies went crazy. he also had one guy just hold up the jamaican flag the whole time. ok performance annoying crowd

between this and the next one i saw a little bit of depeche mode...not much to say as i was kinda sleeping on a spin magazine

Daft Punk- so i guess like radiohead daft punk plays in america once in a lifetime, and thank god i got to see it because it was probably one of the best things i have ever seen in life! the atmosphere was awesome everyone dancing under the tent, their awesome set up with the screens and lights there really isnt any way to describe the awesomeness best performance of the festival

Sunday

Matisyahu- we were pretty far away for him but the speakers were so loud that we could here fine, he played some stuff from the live CD and his studio album. he had a cool hat on. it was really hot at this point but still enjoyable to see him live

uhh then we saw this old chick band i forgot the name even though they are kinda famous them talking between songs was pretty entertaining other than that i dont know what to say about them

Yeah Yeah Yeahs- man this was the surprise of the festival as i really didnt know what to expect, but it ended up being awesome, i didnt expect anything bad just wasnt sure. Karen O showed alot of personality and was very animated. the drummer seemed like he was having a great time. she did a cool thing were she put the mic in her mouth and tilted her head back and jsut screamed into it while she was pretty much bitting it. i wouldnt mind seeing them again on there own tour

massive attack didnt come on for another hour and there were ok, bunch of idiots cheering for tool, dont go to coachella if you only wanna see one band, seem them on their own tour. i also made friends with some canadians asians and a white guy who brought us all together

TOOL- much like the other 3 tool concerts i went to the pit was crazy, pushy, hot, and hard to breathe, despite that great perfromance as per usual. played new stuff which sounded good and he usual old stuff. maynard talked alot and danny was wearing a kobe bryant jersey boooooo, but he was awesome. and justin chancellor looked like george harrison with his beard. cool everything and fun was to close the festival.

if anyone ends uop going next year or in the future keep in mine it takes 2 hours to get in once you hit indio so leave early! and about and hour to get out

so today was catch up on deaf activities day so i had to go to deaf church, and when i got there juliana and angela said they were going to sunday school so i was like ehhhh why not join them, and im sureeee glad i did. i worked with the CODA kids, which is children of deaf adults and it was so fun. i played connect four with a 6 year old named elijah, hes the son of the deaf man who does the songs at church, and him and his little brother michael were very cute kids. we helped them do puzzles, i armed wrestled with a 3 year old, and met this little girl whos name slips my mind but she was so fun to talk to. kids are really cool and i learned like 10 new signs along with them, they are so smart and it was an incredible experience, im sure ill go back and help. i have no lame pictures or drawings or links to put up i just wanted to talk about a really awesome day.
